Testosterone levels naturally vary from person to person. They can also change with age, sleep, stress, illness, body composition, medication use, testing time, and laboratory method.

What Is Considered Low Testosterone?
Many clinicians use a total testosterone level below 300 ng/dL as a reasonable threshold that may support a diagnosis of testosterone deficiency.
However, a number alone is not enough.
A responsible evaluation usually includes:
- Symptoms consistent with low testosterone
- Two separate low morning testosterone results
- Review of total and, when appropriate, free testosterone
- SHBG testing when results are borderline or confusing
